Founded in 1921, Achievement Week is Omega’s longest sustained community-oriented program, which is mandated to be implemented by all Chapters in the Fraternity. The purpose of this week is to encourage and support achievement for the collective good among today’s youth in communities of color. Since 1926, a series of activities for Achievement Week has been held either the first or second week of November. Delta Mu Mu Chapter (DMM) remodeled its Achievement Week activities in 2019 to include a debate competition among two metro Atlanta high school, a daily social media campaign on unsung and unknown African American achievers, a community forum on domestic violence at Clark Atlanta University, and capstone Founders Brunch where community honors were presented including our Citizen of the Year award which was presented to Congresswoman Lucy McBath.

Located in Decatur, GA, the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge provides patients and their caregivers an environment that eases both the stress of the cancer journey and the financial challenges of receiving cancer treatment. For over seven years, DMM has participated in the Meal of Hope program, where the Hope Lodge guests enjoy a meal prepared by members of the Chapter. During the meal, DMM members meet residents, talk to them about their experience, and provide emotional support and comfort to the patients going through the cancer experience.

The foundation of our Fraternity is Friendship. DMM implements many initiatives throughout the year to strengthen the bonds of friendship among its members and visiting Brothers. These programs run the gamut from Salsa Night at a local restaurant with spouses and significant others to a March Madness Set Owt at a local bar in Sandy Springs. Additionally, after each monthly Fraternity meeting, dinner is served to Brothers in attendance to foster fellowship after taking care of the business of Omega.

Since its founding in 2015, the annual P3 Experience seeks to provide a unique experience to capture the patron’s sight, sound, and taste. P3 features various premier wines for tasting, paintings/art from local artists as well as an interactive art class, and local poets/spoken word artists for the discerning ear. In 2019, this event moved from its home since its beginning at Heritage Sandy Springs to the Millennium Gate Museum at Atlantic Station in downtown Atlanta where its contemporary, cosmopolitan environment was equally matched by the quality of entertainment to the over 300 patrons that attended the event.

Since its inception in 2008, DMM has made it a strategic priority to advance our Cardinal Principle of Scholarship through the financial support of young minds. To date, over $450,000 in scholarships has been provided to over 250 deserving students in the metro Atlanta area. Additionally, in 2016, DMM held its inaugural College Fair to provide college-seeking students the opportunity to connect with colleges and universities in seeking admission and financial aid. This event is held annually and attracts over 60 colleges and universities and 300+ metro Atlanta high school students.

Another of Omega’s mandated programs for Chapters is the annual Talent Hunt. The Talent Hunt consist of demonstrations in contemporary vocal selections, modern dance interpretation, spoken word, piano solos, and other artistic endeavors by high school students who are awarded prizes for their artistic efforts. DMM holds its Talent Hunt annually in April each year and consistently have over a dozen participants present their creative abilities before a panel of judges, supporters, and attendees.
